Hanscom Airforce Base writes that Capt. Samuel Jones, chief of the advanced capabilities section in the Special Programs Division, is one of three Air Force captains who will pursue a fully funded doctorate degree at one of more than 20 top-tier universities in September 2017. Jones earned an associate’s degree in manufacturing (semiconductor) at MCC. Phoenix New Times and several other publications announced that the 26th annual AriZoni Theatre Awards took place Monday, September 19, at Tempe Center for the Arts. Fulton Schools Teams Win 12 of 20 ASU Edson Student Entrepreneur Awards

The ASU School of Engineering reports that twelve of the 20 student-led startups chosen for Arizona State University’s Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative for the 2016-2017 academic year are led by Fulton Schools students. Payne Named as Assistant Fire Chief

MCC alum Jason Payne will be introduced to the Town Council this week as the Fountain Hills Rural/Metro Fire Department Assistant Chief/Fire Marshal, reports the Fountain Hills Times. A graduate of Dobson High School in Mesa, Payne attended ASU before deciding to become a firefighter. He received his AA in Fire Science from Mesa Community College. Local News.pdf
